This is dope

The battle lines have been drawn, the first shots have been fired and 11 of the lame-asses didn’t even show up, leaving 21 of you. I actually think that’s a good thing cos there was too damn many tracks to check anyway and it kinda sorts the men from the boys. What we have got, though, is 20 fire-breathing MCs pushing themselves to deliver and they ALL come with the goods. Huge props to everyone that showed up, you’re gonna get love for that. Here’s my little summary of the first round. I’m not a judge in this, so my opinion doesn’t count for shit, but I figure you all deserve a lil’ more feedback. The main thread for posting your tracks is now here main thread, but it’s easier to use this list. Damn, I saved the judges about an hour each doing this. (click on the links to hear the tracks).

Realstyles vs Skittlez
I’m kinda in love with RealStyles output at the moment, so i’m biased. That lazy, esoteric style and the mad humor just gets me hypnotized. So I was all ready to say he walks it, but then i heard Skittlez and damn its good. I even think he could take the round, but I’m split. Let’s see if he can keep it up for the next round. No doubt it will make RealStyles push harder. HOT BATTLE!

Kid Stripez vs. Killaskan
Stripez is certainly one of the favorites and this is just him playing, but it’s tight: hot beat, sweet flow. I’m a fan. Skan comes hard, and some great lines in there, but IMO it’s not even close. Also, this has gota be the most friendly battle - both cats showing respect to eachother.. i dig that.

Don Dope vs BJay
Don comes in with the longest damn intro, creeps up with that lazy flow and lands several sucka punches. We all know Don is built for this, and he doesn’t really get out of first gear, but he still dominates. Lil confused over which is Bjays entry, but i’m talking he first one. He comes nice acapella (props for that, think out of the bow etc.), and a lotta nice lines, nice flow, but I don’t think he can top Don on this one.

Killakain vs Hazoo
Kain came with with one of teh best battle tracks so far. Probably the best in fact. It’s just brutal. Hazoo has long been one of my favs and the Winston Churchhill intro i dig in a big way, but I kinda expected Kain to kill him on the mic, but DAMN he comes nice on this track. I think Kain just takes it, but this hazoo track would kill most of the others i heard from this comp so far. I’ve saved Hazoo’s track as a possible KKRUNCH mixtape track. Round 2 will be nice. This is my fav battle so far.

Dominion vs SoundsOvSilence
I really like Dominion, we’re collabing real soon, but SoS comes harder, tighter, stronger. You gotta give it to him really. But you also gotta feel the character to what Dominion is doing too..

Eternal Chronicle vs JTda45
Damn, eternal lays claim to some serious ground here - the beat is fire and the flow nice too… Now, JT is my OG DT homie, and he comes with nice subtle flow & beat.. i feel like i should give it to him, but it’s tight. My heart says ET, but I can’t call it. This is one of the best matches in the comp… looking forward to round 2.

Prof vs Sicklecellz
Prof comes hard with a hot track (love the sample at the start) and ill wordplay. In fairness, Sickle isn’t even really close - the track was kinda low-fi with SFX on the vocal that didn’t add anything to it for me. But then Sickle is mianly about production (in my eyes at least) so props for coming through. Round one to Prof for sure.

Linguistic vs White Dice
A no show from white dice, but Linguistic is sounding real nice and i think he would have killed dice anyway. I’m gonna watch this boy, he sounds good.

Jackhammer vs Youngroc
It’s a real pain in the ass for people to go to the effort of putting up a track and the dude doesn’t show up. Jack would have slain him anyway, but still, that’s wack. I don’t know if siajlence is gonna replace the spots that haven’t shown, but it seems a waste when a lot of cats wanted to gt on but the spaces were taken by fakers.

Official monument vs Ajay
Official comes with a real clever beat and a slick flow… sickle said it wasn’t a battle track, but i think the disses are pretty good. Anyway, its a no-show. Nice one ajay, they shouldn’t have let a cat with no tracks or beats up on the comp IMO.

JustListen vs Smokeysky
I think this is a no-show, but I can understand, smokey is like 8 or something. Justlisten sounding hot though.. gonna watch out for him in the next round.

Young Bogey vs DaRedHead
Bogey comes correct with a HOT beat and real nice flow. Redhead didn’t show, but bogey would have killed him anyhow.

Sockajock vs 9Trae
Socka comes aiight on a RS beat… but 9Trae didn’t post. This is why this comp is interesting - people with better material than socka are gonna lose in this round. But hell, that’s life. Good looks socka.

Kullybones vs Foundation records.
Kully comes pretty nice, not fire, but he prolly would have won. Foundation records - no-show lame ass.

Rhyme King vs D_rak
Rhyme King posted a track on the forum, but the track is deleted now, and I don’t think drak came with anything. You fools owe me 3 minutes of my life. I’m on about $60 an hour, so you can just pay me $1.50 each. Make it $2 now I’m writing this shit.

Neither Kemo or youngcrook showed up… I got a suspicion that they were too busy making out with eachother to spit.

For what it’s worth, the comp favorites - Stripez & Don - are still looking good, but they sure got challenges ahead of them and I can see Don getting lazy and messing it all up. A couple of new cats have really got my attention (JustListen, Eternal Chronicle & Linguistic) and there is some surprising hotness from Skittlez, SoS and Hazoo, who all pushed real hard and punched harder than we thought. Oh and Kain punched the hardest in this round.
