Goose’s Review of the Common Show (HOB Sunset)

Here's how I would rank everything from the Common show I attended at the House of Blues Sunset Strip (from BEST to WORST): Busta Rhymes, the weed I smoked before the show, Common's drummer, Common's DJ, Common's Keyboard player, the hot girl with the seascape tattoo sleeve in front of me, my Grey Goose on the rocks ($14, but it was decent size), the 2 black dudes that attended the show (they both left early), Common, Kanye West, the ugly girls behind me chanting Kanye's lyrics. Common tried to pull off a good show by surrounding himself with talent. His band was the shit. When Busta flowed, it was motherfuckin HOT. But there are at least a dozen emcees on the site that would kill Common. His act was lame and cheesy, with every song ending with some overacted bullshit. And damn, this dude likes to preach. It was like he was trying to appeal to little girls and wannabes. The small time he was actually reciting a verse, it wasn't bad, but overall, shitty. The worst part was when he butchered "Paid in Full", a true hip-hop classic. Then Kanye came out, did his hits and I almost vomited. The crowd seemed to like his lame pop crap, though. Send me to a concert, I'll tell you what I really think.
