KKRUNCH3 yeeeeaah NOW!!
How do you boil 8000 tracks down into one mixtape? Well, It ain’t easy (and it ain’t altogether fair), but KK3 pulls together 50 of the nicest emcees and beats posted on DT in March 2008 to make a 70 minute mix of some of hottest unsigned talent in hip hop! OK, ok, first of you want the links, right? It comes in two parts this time…
To download part 1 of the mixtape right-click here and ’save as…’
To download part 2 of the mixtape right-click here and ’save as…’
To listen NOW, here is PART 1 and PART2 through the DT player. Sit back and listen to why record labels are sniffing around here, and throw some dope while you’re there!
Yes, I know I said I was gonna make the KKRUNCH mixes shorter. Seriously, I tried to, but I had about 75 tracks to choose from in my March KKrunch folder and I still feel like I left some fire out. As usual you got a mix of heavy hitters and plenty of tracks with less then 15 dopes (a few with 3 or 4!!); the old school masters and the new Skywalkers - you know the drill - we got corners covered.
Special thanks to the cats who sent me vocals for the Perhaps kkollabo and especially to Grip for pulling a KILLER intro out of the bag in like 20 minutes on his $5 walmart mic (WTF you chumps moaning about your mics for?) and to Fantasy Dream for the slick-ass vocals on the ‘Fever’ interlude beat - mouse click click!
If you’re new to the KKRUNCH mixes, you’re probably gonna want to hear the others after you hear this - here are the links for KKRUNCH1 (January) and KKRUNCH2 (February). Send me your best for KK4 - I’m listening!

REDRUM
Oh, I see, honesty is expendable here. My last post was deleted.
i just try to keep the comments free of boring or irrelevant posts. yours managed to be both, but i’ll paste it below. boring because can you imagine how many sensitive emcees first reaction is ‘i’m not on it it must be shit’ (most and they are boring comments to have to read) and irrelevant, because what has points and promotion got to do with it?
.
original comment: “Can’t be that nice, I ain’t on there.
I guess I should do more shameless self promotion, like emailing people to listen to my tracks, even if I don’t listen to theirs.
Naw, life is too short.”
sorry if that seems harsh, but it is true.
THat ain’t true, I didn’t say it was shit, I like the mixtape.
And in hindsight, I probably wasn’t considered anyway, because I didn’t upload in march.
And my stuff isn’t exactly pop, radio friendly rap. Which I have no intention of doing.
I was making a statement on how there isn’t as much give and take here lately as it was only 8 months ago.
Back then people would listen to your tracks and then ask you to listen to theirs. Now it is like, in private email, fuck your shit, listen to mine.
If diverging opinions can be warped into boring and irrelevant in your mind, I can see through your qualifications for feedback.
This will probably blow any chance of getting on any future mixtape, but I would rather be honest.
ok, i do regret being a bit nasty, but i stand by my original statement.
.
the whole points thing makes no difference to the kkrunch tapes (quite a few tracks had only 3 or 4 dopes), but there is so much that i do often miss stuff, especially when it comes to new people and people who i dont do collabos etc with.
.
i do totally agree with you about the emailing thing, its ruthless right now. if i get someone begging for points (and i think we should start calling this BEGGING) and they havent doped mine, i tend to give them a much harsher criticism, or if its really good i comment but might not dope it. its gotta be about exchange. so yeah i do agree with you, but it’s a different subject, a different post (see my first blog post in fact).
.
i dont really see how pop, radio friendly rap has anything to do with it either. its diverse, not popular. sometimes i think there is a bit of confusion over ‘underground, raw’ and ‘not very well done’.
.
anyway, thanks for your comments, even if i dont agree with you i do appreciate them. and i promise you that you havent blown any chances of getting on a tape, i try to judge it 95% on merits, on the music. … although that might change because on the last few tapes i’ve tried to rep a whole range of people and dudes just take it for granted, like its DT doing these tapes and there is a responsibility to rep people. WTF? i do these tapes cos i figured some cats couldnt be bothered to go through all the wackness and to celebrate what’s hot. seriously, i’ve had WAAAAY more negative feedback on this tape than positive comments. even though people are saying its the best one yet, people are pissed off if they don’t get on. seriously, people who have been on kk1 and kk2 pissed because i wasn’t putting them in kk3… damn emcees are insecure.. i think i’m gonna be delivering a big FUCK U soon enough.. peace
Okay, I will keep it on the mixtape.
I like it, it is all good, and all of that, but it isn’t very original, underground or hardcore.
My definition of underground may differ from DT, but I don’t see the rappers here taking rap to different places, seldom traveled spaces.
In past decades, being able to record your music was harder, you had to buy expensive time in a studio, but today, you can get a computer studio program, I got mine for $40, very easily, and do recordings, pretty much inseparable from a proffesional studio.
So basically, people can do anything they want with their music, But very rarely is it seen that someone is doing anything outside of the established forums, of Hip Hop, dance rap, gangsta rap, Pop Hip Hop, whatever.
People may say what they are doing is what they want to do, and for some, maybe, but I suspect many are so accustomed to doing what is hip, going back to school days, they are influenced by popular opinion. Be it clothes, hairstyles, mannerisms, music, people become so used to avoiding being perceived as wack, that there modifications become who they are, they forget when they did what they liked originally, before all that.
That is why on my influences, I have so few rap artists, The Rza, and I was going to put Saul williams on there. I know people want to make some dollars off of this, so they steer toward what record companies look for.
You could do that, but also take rap into some places it seldom is taken. I don’t see anyone else here doing anything in atleast an attempt to be original, I haven’t heard everything, but what I have heard is popular entertainment.
It is like seeing a movie like, Gone in 60 seconds, and then you see a movie like ‘Slam’ and after that ‘Gone’ is still entertaining, but now you see the levels you are missing in it.
I feel music should totally fuck up your worldview.
Or check out Brooklyn Babylon.
I am also in the camp that believes in Style over Technique… I’d rather see something fresh rather than someone refining a process I’m familiar with…
HOWEVER
Music.. like art… is about spurring a dialogue.
If no one talks about it.. it didn’t do its job.
If it inspires you to start a discussion.. then it worked!
Music is supposed to make you think… and even in the act of hatin’ on it.. you are thinking about it… so that’s all good in my book.
I just heard drinkinstein, she is pretty original.
I am not sure I agree with the hatin thing. Several times, I have given my honest view, and people think I am hatun on them, and they cuss me out or delete the private email thread I was talking to them on. I am just talking about what I like or not, not what is good or bad. But even when I like them, they still think that, so I don’t know what is up with that.
well done man. well spotted. you should get in contact with simon cowell, you’re clearly on the cutting edge.
This is a very nice, sick mixtape. Congrats to everyone that was involved. I didnt get a chance to be on this one. Maybe I will get to be on the KKrunch4 mixtape.I am currently working on 3 new tracks, and if you ever been over to showcaseyourmusic.com/djstereo…Well you already know! later and congrats again to all the MC’s and producers!
But honestly, I don’t need to be repped, whatever that means. The stuff that lasts is if someone is genuinely moved by something I did. That is worth more than thousands of dope points and mixtapes and compliments. Like I showed a lady one of my poems, and she started crying when she read it. My mouth dropped open. She didn’t have to say anything else.
The Mix Tape is dope yall…come on…take a gooood loook at how diverse the emcees are .
The mix is about the music, not a snub to anyone… because we all share a love for music, we all share setbacks and the struggle we also share the feeling of being biased to “our” own sht. But we all don’t share the ability to be honest with feedback/comments because some of don’t know how to handle or use constructive criticism. most of us personalize it, become defensive
and eventually…hate! (not directed at you)
everyone doesn’t like everyone’s sht, we all feel what we like as individuals… but it’s
that joint that goes beyond individual taste and reaches the majority thats gets crazy heat.
at the very least it should be acknowledged for that alone. (krunch3).
also, as you said with your poem… if only one person is moved, it is worth more than any point
and compliments. i feel that kid.
i just don’t agree that kk is a person of that nature, besides she wouldn’t keep
a track off the mix if it were going to make it even ILLer than it already is. that’s just my
opinion.
keep shinin kid
I could say I like the mixtape a hundred times and people will still think I am ‘hatin’ on it, because I talked out of the acceptable pattern.
When I said original, I meant something, like drinkinstein, I know I am really pimping her shit, but I can’t help it, I was blown away, I am going to look around for more people here that are doing something that takes rap to the next evolution, or atleast outside of the established business.
People are doing good stuff, and I like it, so they don’t have to feel like I am putting what they do down.
MONSTERMATT TOO, HE MAKES SOME REAL ORIGINAL SHIT N IT SOUNDS HELLA GOOD TOO…
yeah i got time for hearing what you like or dont like but you really have exposed yourself as a fool when you talk sh1t like you do. one minute you are saying you like the tapes but it needs more alternative stuff (ok i get that) then you suggest people like drinkinstien, when she is already one of the most featured artists on the two mixes you are referring too. i would love to hear how you would approach it.. why dont you do your own mixtape? and see if anyone wants to listen. you have a tough crowd. i bet there are about 10 of us that would give you the time.
.\
i’m sorry to lay into you but you are talking such nonsense that i feel like i have to call you out on it. like i said on the other post, repping alternative is cool, but just blind faith in ‘alternative’ is foolish, like conspiracy theorists who question every media except conspiracy media. heard the expression ‘broken record’? also, its insulting to everyone else because you’re suggesting that the music people make is either done without passion (no chance) or inferior in some way, which is a pretty disgusting point of view, especially when your stuff is pretty lame (and, again, i’m one of the people who will listen with open ears).
,
understand that music is, along with other things, entertainment. i know you wouldn’t watch arthouse cinema all day - you’d crave some pop TV now again. it’s foolish to have prejudice about anything and that includes what you cast aside as pop.
.
the girl who cried at your poem was probably already pretty upset that a dweeb made her read his poetry. maybe next time you should just wave your cock in her face; you’d probably get the same reaction.
this is fun isn’t it? keep it going. can we get marilyn manson commenting? he’s a fuckwit too.
The thing with social patterns, is there is alot of “you said this” “you are saying this”
And when someone who knows what they wrote and meant, they read that, and know that isn’t what they were getting at.
They read it, and think, were they even responding to what I wrote?
So in that regard, I can’t take personal anything you said.
I like the mixtapes, I don’t like the social games. Rap doesn’t need direction that supports the social games of misunderstanding.
A follow-up to self realization is to know and recognize the games and social myths.
But with drinkinstein, there is I kill hoes and processes, as far as I could tell, which is her least alternative song and fit in with the rest of what you consider hot. I wouldn’t say that makes her the most featured artist, with a small cut of hoes and processes.
I like the mixtape, I will keep saying that.
But you don’t have an open mind, if you did, you would know what I meant.
If you don’t like mine, then it is because you just don’t like it.
People could separate what they don’t like, with what needs more time to grow. But they usually don’t.
If they don’t like it, then it sucks, in their mind.
Excuse me, suks.
I gotta say I’m lovin this honesty - positive or negative - it’s just real, and for me it’s refreshing, and I’m thanking all of my DT fammy out there for all of your inspiration. That’s all new to me. ~ DueLyric
